Lighting off fireworks more than 48 hours before or after a national holiday is a ticketed offense in the City of Taylor. State of Michigan law enables fireworks after 11 a.m., and not after 11:45 p.m. during properly designated time periods.
Temper your fun activities with reality: Your party-goers may not have to work in the morning, but your neighbor may have to get up early. You may not mind the noise, but it may be torturing the dog next door, or the veteran who lives down the street. During the fireworks’ season, common sense goes a long way.
In addition, don’t turn the Fourth of July weekend into a hospital visit. Fireworks are synonymous with our celebration of Independence Day. Yet, the thrill of fireworks can also bring pain. Two hundred and forty people on average go the emergency room every day with fireworks-related injuries in the month around the holiday.
