Karl Ziomek is the director of Communications and Marketing for the City of Taylor. He was named to that position in December 2013. He is responsible for all communication-related items in the City, including official press releases, photography, video, website, LED boards, cable channels, magazines, social media pages, etc.
Prior to joining the City of Taylor, Ziomek was the managing editor of The News-Herald Newspapers, where he also served as executive editor for Heritage Newspapers over two decades. While with the News-Herald, he was an award-winning editor, writer and columnist for over three decades.
A graduate of Wayne State University, he was named the WSU journalism faculty’s “Outstanding Alumni” in 1995 and was three-year letter winner for the Wayne State University football squad, and a member of WSU's only Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship team in 1975.
A long-time member of the prestigious Michigan Press Association Board of Director, Ziomek served as MPA president in 2009.
He is a native of Dearborn who now lives in Northville.
