  1. Official dedication of portion of highway to fallen soldier

    June 26, 2021, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Taylor Veterans Museum

The formal dedication of a portion of the I-75 freeway to the late Holly McGeogh will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, inside the Taylor Veterans Museum. The relocated museum is now in the Taylor Media Center, 23511 Goddard Road, within the Taylor City Hall campus. Army Specialist McGeogh was just 19 years old when she was killed by an explosion in Iraq on January 31, 2004. She was part of Company A, Fourth Forward Support Battalion, Fourth Infantry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas. A memorial to Ms. McGeogh is located in the Priebe Plaza, near the water foundation and the war memorials, directly in front of the Taylor Police Department. State Representative Alex Garza (D-Taylor) sponsored House Bill 5553 that designated a two-mile stretch of I-75 last fall to Ms. McGeogh – “Specialist Holly McGeogh Memorial Highway.”
